Thailand Seaside Hotel Project

2024-10-24

Project Background

This project is located at a beachfront hotel in Thailand, where the architectural design emphasizes modern aesthetics and transparency, aiming to harmonize the building with its natural surroundings.

The project utilizes a combination of curved tempered glass and tempered glass, enhancing both the aesthetic and structural integrity of the building while meeting the hotel's high safety and durability standards.

Challenges

The hotel is situated in a coastal area, subject to high humidity, strong winds, and corrosive saltwater exposure. The client required the glass facade to provide an uninterrupted view of the ocean, while also withstanding the environmental challenges.

The building's design features curved surfaces, necessitating the use of both standard tempered glass and custom curved tempered glass to create a seamless, dynamic architectural effect.

Curved Tempered Glass

Solution

To address these challenges, the project team incorporated a combination of curved tempered glass for the curved sections of the facade and tempered glass for the flat surfaces. This solution offers several key benefits:

Strength and Durability: Both types of glass are highly resistant to impact and wind loads, which is essential for coastal buildings exposed to frequent storms and strong winds.

Curved Design Flexibility: Curved tempered glass was specifically chosen for its ability to form to the building’s unique shapes, maintaining the architect's vision of a fluid, natural design while ensuring structural integrity.

Tempered Glass

Implementation

During the installation, the glass panels were precisely tailored to fit the building’s specific architectural requirements. The curved tempered glass was used for the arched sections of the facade, while standard tempered glass was applied to the flat sections.

This combination ensured that the aesthetic fluidity of the design was maintained without compromising on safety or performance. The advanced glass support system used ensured stability and longevity, even under the harsh coastal conditions.

Project Highlights

Innovative Use of Curved and Standard Tempered Glass: The combination of both types of glass allowed the design to achieve a unique, flowing appearance while maintaining strength and safety.

Architectural Harmony: The smooth transition between the curved and flat glass elements created a visually striking exterior that complements the natural beauty of the beachfront setting.

Resilience and Safety: Both types of glass provided excellent wind resistance and safety features, ensuring long-term durability and protection against environmental factors.
